Edizione 2023

The balance sheet of the Adamello Ski Raid 2023

The 2023 edition of the Adamello Ski Raid, which took place last weekend, was certainly the most difficult for the Organizing Committee directed by Alessandro Mottinelli. The most prestigious, because it counted as a long distance team World Championship, as well as a test on the La Grande Course international circuit, but emotionally the saddest because of what happened to the athlete Omar Ferrero at high altitude. All the competitors, the organizational staff and the large family of the skialp gather around his wife, daughter and her family.

The competition was complicated to organise, in the long approach, due to the scarce snow conditions present even at high altitudes, which forced the organizers to trace the final route only a few days before the start. In keeping with the tradition of this territory, the undisputed homeland of Italian and international skialp, the result is a technically complete itinerary, appreciated by all the participants, coming from 19 nations, with a development of 39 km, a positive difference in altitude of 3,115 meters and a negative of 3,455, with 12 set-up changes, 4 ascents, 4 descents, 4 sections on foot of which 2 uphill. A very demanding competition, won by the Italian couple, another reason for satisfaction, formed by Matteo Eydallin and Robert Antonioli.
«We managed - says the president of the Organizing Committee Alessandro Mottinelli - to design a route worthy of the validity of the World Championship. And the credit certainly goes to all the staff of our association, to all the volunteer technicians, to the health workers, to the mountain rescue and to the mountain guides who supervised the route, guaranteeing competitive regularity and safety at high altitudes, especially in the mountaineering part of Crest Cross. More than 230 mountain professionals who, with great passion and competence, made themselves available to guarantee a high-level event. A big thank you to all of them."
Attention to the environmental impact of the event should be highlighted. All the personnel complied with the rules that a complex territory such as that of the Adamello and its peaks requires, and which saw already in the afternoon, once the race was over, the removal of all the material used for route signage, in especially on Pian di Neve.
For the Adamello Ski Team and for the Pontedilegno – Tonale area, therefore, a very challenging and satisfying winter from an organizational point of view has come to an end, which saw the construction of both the Skialp World Cup stage in December and the Adamello Ski Raid. «Now we rest and then we will plan for next season. The long race takes place every two years and therefore will not be held next spring. We will shortly analyze future programs, with the priority of maintaining the role of nerve center for the world of skialp, as we have always done in our history».
